about us title

We purchased our first Chessie in 1974 as a family dog and hunting buddy. We soon became taken by the breed and purchased our first breeding quality female - a daughter of FC-AFC Aleutian Surfbreaker in 1976.

Not long after we bred a female to FC-CFC Fireweed's Aleutian Widgeon, which produced my Westpeake Widgeon's Echo. Both Echo and her dam Gypsy, by 1984 they had became qualified all age field trial competitors. This turned out to be the foundation of our breeding program.

Along the way we have bred to some outstanding working males, always attempting to maintain the working character of the breed. Over the years we have hunted, showed and field trialed our Chessies. Currently our primary interest is in training for gun dogs and Hunt Tests. Most of all they have been loyal companions and family dogs.

The most recent additions to our kennel have been Ida and Fly. See the "Our Chessies" page for information and photos of Ida and Fly.
